Imagine working in a place where you feel recognised & valued, you feel part of something & you feel you can be yourself, no pretending, no facade, just be you. What would it be like working in a place like that?
As a leader you can enable this to happen.
So how can you? Try these;
1. Show Appreciation – find out what it is that makes those around you feel appreciated. Is it a thank you, recognition, extra responsibility?
2. Show Respect – find out what it is that makes those around you feel respected. Is it asking their advice, listening, valuing their differences?
3. Show Trust – find out what it is that makes those around you feel trusted. Is it delegating more, developing them, sharing more information?
Don’t try & work these out. You’re not a mind reader, nor do you have to have all of the answers.
Ask people. Be curious. Spend time really getting to know them deeply. Discovering the things that make them feel appreciated, respected and trusted means that they’ll feel included.
Now that’s a business we’d all like to work in.
