There’s always a moment isn’t there. You know, that point just before that decision, before that thing you say, before that thing you do. It’s so quick, hardly measurable, but it’s there. The moment. We bet you know what we’re talking about too. The problem is, you’re probably aware of it because straight after the moment, things went wrong. What were you thinking?! Why did you say that, to them, in that way?! You always notice the moment when things go wrong. We could have waited, We could have planned that better, we’ve all been there. So why don’t we make it a little easier for ourselves. How about the moment before the moment? A point in time when we check exactly what we are about to do. Try this for size:
- Are you absolutely clear on what you are about to do?
- Are you happy with where you are doing this?
- Have you planned for every eventuality?
- Do you know the response are you looking for?
- Do you know what result you want from this?
We’re not talking minutes here, we’re talking seconds, just few seconds asking yourself these questions. If you can answer yes to all 5 then you can step into the moment. If not, don’t do it. Remember, we only notice the moment when it’s too late, so give yourself some time to enjoy it.
